How many calories will you lose when you run 1 mile?

For a 150-pound person, it's around 100 calories. You can use the running calculator below to get a more precise estimate based on your weight.

Note that you burn about 60 calories per hour just being awake and functional. So if you are running 6mph, or a 10-minute mile, then you used would have used 10 calories if you'd been sitting still instead of running a mile. Running burned an extra 90 calories.

Someone in very good shape may burn fewer calories, as their muscles and circulation become more efficient. They can counteract this effect by running faster or for a longer time.
